In 1990, the Oceano Advisory Council was given authority by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors to represent our community as defined by the Oceano Community Services District (excluding Halcyon), in matters of Planning and Building. We receive funds from the County Board of Supervisors to pay administrative costs.
The Board of Supervisors formally established Community Advisory Councils through the adoption of Resolution 96-485 on December 10, 1996. The resolution states that the Board of Supervisors:
Values the input of Community Advisory Councils
Wants to make sure that advising bodies addressing the Board of Supervisors on current and future planning matters in the unincorporated areas actually respresent the communities for which they speak
Wishes to establish a consistent set of guidelines to assist in the formation of future councils
